PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point women's golf team moved into second place at the 2009 NCAA Division III Championships on day two, nine shots back of Methodist University at the four day event at the PGA Golf Club Wannamaker course in Florida.
The Pointers shot a day-two 318, four strokes better than their first day to move from their tie for fifth place after day one into second. Methodist fired a day two 310, 11 strokes better to overtake UW-Eau Claire for the championship lead.
UW-Eau Claire fell to fifth on day two, in a three-way tie with Otterbein and Olivet. Southwestern University matched the Pointers day two 318 to move into third place while Gustavus Adolphus sits in fourth with a two-day 646.
Individually
Jessica Urban (Hartland) sits in third place, shooting a second day 74, a one stroke improvement from Wednesday's score. For the tournament, Urban sits a 149, five stroke of Methodist's Susan Martin for the championship lead.
Michelle Pascavis (Waukesha) is currently tied for 20th, shooting a day two 82.
The Pointers return to action on the third day of the four day championship on Thursday.
