KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The UW-Stevens Point softball team posted a 2-0 showing after their first day at the Rebel Games, defeating Washington & Jefferson 6-0 in the opening game and posting a 5-1 victory over Loras (Iowa) in game two.
Kayla Kastenmeier (Ashwaubenon) posted a one-hit shutout in game one, going the distance for her third win of the season.
Offensively,
Jessica Berger (Bonduel) recorded her second homerun of the season while
Elyse Nelson (Batavia, IL, Batavia) went 2-4 with a double,
Melissa Wenig (Oshkosh, West) added two RBI and
Sarah Butts (Greenfield) added two hits including a double.
In game two, Kastenmeier came on for five innings of relief to notch another victory. Butts broke the game open with her only hit of the day, a three RBI hit while Wenig and Nelson each added a RBI.
Lauren Watkins (Baraboo, Baraboo) finished 2-3 with a double.
The Pointers (4-2) return to acton on Monday, March 16 with games against Ill. Wesleyan and McDaniel, beginning at 1 p.m.
