ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (2-0-0) earned its second-straight 1-0 shutout win to start the season doing so in a road victory at Bethel (0-2-0) on Friday afternoon.
In the 29th minute,
Piper Hanley (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) rocketed a shot into the net for her first goal of the season to put UWSP in front.
Piper Gunderson (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) provided the assist for her first collegiate point.
The Pointers' defense held the Royals at bay all match. UWSP goaltenders
Jocelyn Blahnik (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) and
Ainsley Katte (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) both played 45 minutes and neither was tested with a shot on goal.
The Pointers return home on Sunday (Sept. 6) to face Concordia (Wis.) for a 1:00 p.m. contest at the UWSP Turf Facility. Sunday's theme is Ted Lasso Day and fans are encouraged to dress like their favorite member from the popular show.
