WAUSAU, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team opened conference play with a 6-1 win over UW-Stout Polytechnic.
The Pointers won the doubles team point by sweeping doubles action.
Chloe Regal (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) and
Annie Wierzbicki (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) got a 6-2 win at No. 1.
Ellie Aitken (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) and
Lacey Foss (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) took No. 2 doubles, 6-3.
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) and
Georgia Haddorff (West Bend, Wis./West) got a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Regal won the first set, 6-0, and took No. 1 singles by opponent retirement. Wierzbicki got a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Aitken had no trouble at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Foss got a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles. Brosteau took her No. 5 singles match by a 6-4, 6-2 final.
The Pointers travel to Minnesota on Friday (Sept. 25) for the ITAs.
