STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team defeated UW-River Falls by a 5-2 final in the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's) quarterfinals.
The Pointers won the team doubles point as No. 1 duo
Chloe Regal (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) and
Annie Wierzbicki (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) and No. 3 pairing of
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) and
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) each earned 6-1 wins.
In singles play, Regal cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1.
Ellie Aitken (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) prevailed in a second-set tiebreak at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 7-6 (3).
Steier got a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. Brosteau picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
The Pointers move on to the semifinal round at UW-Whitewater on Thursday (Apr. 23). First serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
