STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team played four three-set matches in singles play as they fell to UW-Eau Claire by a 4-2 final on Friday. Due to weather concerns, the match started with singles play and was called before doubles play was completed.
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) got UWSP on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 singles all went to a third set.
Anthony Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) rallied to win in the three sets at No. 3 singles. After dropping the first set, 6-1, He won set two, 6-2. Then in the third set, he won in a tiebreak 7-6 (6).
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) fell at No. 2 singles by a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 score.
Ayden Knuth (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) came up short at No. 5 singles, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) dropped the No. 1 singles match by a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 final.
In doubles play, Kryscio and
Jacob Stinski (Oshkosh, Wis./West) got a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Janes and Froemming fell by a 6-4 final at No. 2 doubles. Knuth and
Augie Nelson (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Jacobs) were trailing, 5-4, at No. 1 doubles when the match was called due to weather.
