EAU CLAIRE, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (7-4, 1-3) faced UW-Eau Claire (6-3, 4-1) on Wednesday evening, falling to an 18-4 final.
UWEC controlled the first half, scoring eight goals in the first quarter and five in the second quarter.
Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) found
Ava Muller (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) at 6:09 of the first quarter for the Pointers' first goal.
Van Dyke and
Rowan Dunn (Janesville, Wis./Joseph A. Craig) scored back-to-back unassisted goals to start the third quarter. Van Dyke recorded the Pointers' final goal of the evening on a free-position shot. To finish the game, UWEC scored two goals in the third quarter and three in the fourth quarter.
The Pointers secured 10 ground balls in the loss;
Abbey Boersma (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) and Van Dyke secured three, Muller and
Addison Novack (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) each secured one while the team was granted two.
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal making 15 saves in 60 minutes of play.
The Pointers are back in action on Saturday (Apr. 18) to host Colorado College for a league matchup beginning at 1:00 p.m.
