WAUKESHA, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team (2-2) hit a pair of home runs and defeated Carroll (6-3) in non-conference play by a 9-1 final on Saturday. The win was the 150th of head coach
Nat Richter's career.
Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) collected four hits and scored three runs.
Cooper Brown (Appleton, Wis./West) had two hits, including a home run, with three RBI and two runs scored.
Tyler Soule (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) hit a home run and drove in two.
UWSP found itself in an early hole as the Carroll leadoff hitter hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first.
Nick Argersinger (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central) singled to start the third inning. Soule followed with a two-run home run to put UWSP ahead. Olson hit a double and moved to third on a wild pitch.
Kamden Oliver (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) drew a walk and Brown singled for a 3-1 lead. With two down, Isaac Beeeler singled to load the bases.
Tino Ramirez (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and Argersinger drew consecutive walks to push home two more runs.
Olson began the fourth with a double. Two batters later, Brown launched a two-run home run to right for a 7-1 lead.
Olson singled with one out in the eighth. Oliver singled and Olson moved to third on a flyout. Oliver got into a rundown long enough for Olson to score as the lead grew to 8-1.
Landon Parlier (Wausau, Wis./West) drew a leadoff walk in the ninth. Pinch runner
Tommy Drohner (Plover, Wis./SPASH) moved to second on a groundout. He stole third and scored on an errant throw to make it 9-1.
Kenny Schultz (Plover, Wis./SPASH) went 2.0 innings in the start with one strikeout.
