NEENAH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team fell to Carroll by a 5-2 final on Sunday.
Ben Temple (Rockford, Ill./Lutheran) won a super-breaker at No. 5 singles. He split 6-2 sets, winning the first and dropping the second. In the super-breaker, he earned the win, 1-0 (8).
Jacob Stinski (Oshkosh, Wis./West) and
Ayden Knuth (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) also played super-breakers at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Stinski fell, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (7). Knuth came up just short, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 0-1 (9).
The Pointers earned the team doubles point as No. 1 duo Knuth and
Augie Nelson (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Jacobs) won, 6-4, and No. 3 pair Temple and
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) got a 6-4 win.
Froemming won six games at No. 2 singles.
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) won four games in each set at No. 6 singles.
The Pointers travel to UW-La Crosse on Saturday (April 4) for the conference opener. First serve is slated for 12:00 p.m.
