NEENAH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team improved to 9-1 on the spring with wins over Edgewood, 5-2, and Lawrence, 7-0, on Sunday.
Chloe Regal (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) swept both matches at No. 1 singles with identical 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) got two wins at No. 6 singles by 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Annie Wierzbicki (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) won both her No. 3 singles matches, 6-2, 6-3 against EU and 6-0, 6-1 versus LU.
Ellie Aitken (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) did the same at No. 4 singles with 6-2, 7-5 and 6-0, 6-1 wins.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) got two wins at No. 2 singles. Against Edgewood, she needed a super-breaker, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (6). She won against Lawrence, 6-1, 6-3.
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) got a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win versus the Vikings. In her morning match, she fell in a super-breaker, 4-6, 6-1, 0-1 (9).
Aitken and Jantz got a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles in both matches. Regal and Wierzbicki got a 7-5 win at No. 1 and Steier and Brosteau won, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles against Lawrence.
The Pointers will travel to Chicago next Sunday (Mar. 8) for a 2:30 p.m. match against Illinois Tech.
