DAVENPORT, Iowa—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (4-0) defeated St. Ambrose (0-3) Thursday afternoon by a 13-4 final, where sophomore
Barrie Bahr (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) recorded her third-straight game with a hat trick.
Bahr began her quest for her third-straight hat trick at 14:27, off an assist from
Aubrey Keeping (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead).
Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) kept the offensive train rolling at 12:42, unassisted.
Elysia Pitts (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) found the back of the net at 9:14 to extend the Pointers' lead to 3-0. St. Ambrose got on the board at 1:43 to be 3-1 going into the second quarter.
Bahr opened the second quarter scoring run at 12:10, unassisted. Less than a minute later, Van Dyke secured the draw to set Keeping up for a goal.
Abbey Boersma (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) tacked on another Pointer goal at 9:51 on a player-up opportunity off an assist from Bahr. Just seconds later, Bahr completed her third-straight game with a hat trick off an assist from
Ava Muller (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc). Pulling away from the Bees,
Katie Wigen (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids) scored on a player-up opportunity from
Kaelyn Deutsch (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) at 4:58. Muller added a goal at 3:09, unassisted, to put the Pointers up 9-1. St. Ambrose added their second goal with 13 seconds left of the second quarter. Pitts tossed in a buzzer-beater goal to give the Pointers an eight-goal lead going into the half.
Addison Novack (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) found the back of the net, through a strong defensive stand by both teams, at 3:49. St. Ambrose capitalized on a player-up opportunity with 46 seconds remaining in the third quarter to cut the Pointers' lead to 11-3.
Boersma scored her second goal of the afternoon at 9:52 in the final quarter. Thirty seconds later, Keeping notched an unassisted goal to give the Pointers a 13-3 lead. St. Ambrose notched the final goal of the game at 2:21 on a free-position shot.
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, making five saves in 60 minutes of play.
The Pointers host Beloit College on Sunday (Mar. 22) at the UWSP Turf Facility, opening draw is set for 2:00 p.m.
