Bahr, Pitts and Van Dyke Record Hat Tricks in Victory Over Beloit

STEVENS POINT, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (5-0) had three, Barrie Bahr (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids), Elysia Pitts (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) and Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest), record hat tricks in the 15-1 victory over Beloit College (0-4) on Sunday afternoon.
 
Both teams put up a strong defensive stand for nearly the entire first quarter. It wasn't until 5:35 for someone to get on the board first, Van Dyke netted a free-position goal. Stella Welhouse (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) recorded her first collegiate goal at 4:37 to put the Pointers up 2-0 going into the second quarter.
 
Seconds into the quarter, Van Dyke netted her second goal of the game off an assist from Aubrey Keeping (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead). Bahr notched her first goal of the game at 11:03, extending the Pointers' lead to 4-0. Kaelyn Deutsch (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) added a goal at 8:36 off an assist from Ava Muller (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc). Muller got in on the Pointers' scoring run at 7:26 on a free-position goal. Elysia Pitts (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) notched the last goal of the half at 4:18 to give the Pointers a 7-0 lead.
 
Bahr opened the third quarter at 14:47 with an unassisted goal. Keeping found Van Dyke at 13:57 to complete her hat trick. Less than a minute later, Van Dyke notched her fourth goal of the afternoon off an assist from Keeping, again. Keeping added to the Pointers' scoring run at 8:45, extending the lead to 11-0. Pitts ended the third quarter with a free-position goal with 35 seconds remaining.
 
Pitts completed her first collegiate hat trick at 13:15 in the fourth quarter. Beloit notched their lone goal at 11:54. Bahr completed her fourth straight game with a hat trick at 5:38, extending the lead to 14-1. Addison Novack (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) wrapped up the game with a goal at 4:12.
 
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, she made eight saves on nine shots on goal, in 60 minutes of play.
 
The Pointers are back on the road Wednesday (Mar. 25) to face Carthage College. Opening draw is set for 6:00 p.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
