Pointers Score Five Unanswered Goals to Sweep Season Series from Beloit

JANESVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (11-10-2, 6-6-1) scored the final five goals in a 6-3 win at Beloit (4-18-1, 1-12-0) on Saturday to complete the season sweep of the Buccaneers.
 
Beloit scored the only goal of the first period at the 14:33 mark as UWSP trailed 1-0 at the first intermission.
 
Turner Richards (Minocqua, Wis.) tied the game at 1-1 at 3:54 of the second period. Alex Johnson (Calgary, Alberta) and Quinton Hill (Coquitlam, B.C.) had assists on the play.
 
The Buccaneers scored the next two goals at 5:48 and 6:25 of the second period.
 
Alec Hamady (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) got UWSP within 3-2 at 12:51 of the second period. Hunter Hastings (Scottdale, Ariz.) got an assist on the goal.
 
Cody Pisarczyk (Airdria, Alberta) tied the game with a power-play goal at 16:46 of the second. Hunter O'Brien (Cambridge, Ont.) had an assist.
 
Richards netted his second of the game to put UWSP ahead at 18:16 of the second with the eventual game-winner. Joseph Manning (Stillwater, Minn.) and Johnson had assists.
 
Sean Bunting (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored twice in the third period for the Pointers. His first, at 8:13, was assisted on by Chris Engelbert (Whitby, Ont.).  He scored an empty-net goal at 19:58.8, unassisted, to seal the win.
 
UWSP goaltender Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made 22 saves to earn the win. Beloit goaltender Andrew Yocum had 45 saves.
 
The Pointers host UW-Superior on Friday (Feb. 13) in the final weekend series of the regular season. Puck drop at K.B. Willett Arena is slated for 7:00 p.m.
