BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins in Minnesota on Friday beating Bethany Lutheran, 6-1, and Macalester, 5-2.
The Pointers eased to a doubles sweep against BLC with 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2 wins.
Chloe Regal (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) got a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 3 singles,
Annie Wierzbicki (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) got the win, 6-1, 6-2.
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
Georgia Haddorff (West Bend, Wis./West) took No. 6 singles by a 6-1, 6-1 final.
Ellie Aitken (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) almost pulled off the sweep, but fell in a super-breaker, 6-0, 3-6, 0-1 (8).
Regal and Wierzbicki got a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, but Macalester took the team doubles point in the nightcap.
Regal won again at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Wierzbicki and Aitken got identical 6-4, 6-4 wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Brosteau and Haddorff won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles in straight sets losing just one game each.
The Pointers take on Hamline in Oshkosh on Friday (Feb. 13) at 6:30 p.m.
