OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team earned a 5-2 win over Hamline on Friday.
No . 1 doubles pair of
Chloe Regal (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) and
Annie Wierzbicki (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) got a 6-1 win, but the Pipers took the team doubles point.
Ellie Aitken (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) and
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) rebounded for super-breaker wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Aitken came up short in the first set, 7-5. She won the second set by the same score and got the super-breaker win, 1-0 (4). Steier fell in the opening set, 6-3. She took the second set, 6-1 and the super-breaker, 1-0 (4).
Wierzbicki won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) got the win at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Regal cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.
The Pointers head to Iowa to face Grinnell on Sunday (Feb. 15) beginning at 12:30 p.m.
