JANESVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (10-10-2, 5-6-1) got a 3-0 win at Beloit (4-17-1, 1-11-0) in the weekend opener on Friday.
Gabe Randel (Hortonville, Wis.) extended his point streak to nine games as he scored at 10:25 of the second period with the eventual game-winner.
Camden Markham (Houghton, Mich.) and
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) got assists on the goal.
Chmelevski extended the lead to 2-0 at 4:04 of the third period. Markham notched his second helper of the night.
Alec Hamady (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) pushed the advantage to 3-0 at the 9:15 mark of the third.
Matthew Schulmeister (Calgary, Alberta) got his first collegiate point with an assist.
UWSP goaltender
Ryan Maguire (Ridgefield, Conn.) made 18 saves to record his first career shutout. Beloit goaltender Andrew Yocum had 53 saves.
The Pointers face Beloit again on Saturday (Feb. 7) in the final regular season road game. Puck drop in Janesville is set for 7:00 p.m.
