STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's volleyball team (7-9) dispatched of visiting Viterbo (2-11) in a sweep by a 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-16) final.
Hudson Dresen (Franksville, Wis./Union Grove) led all players with 12 kills.
Owen Andersen (Racine, Wis./Case) and
Andrew Yang (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) added 10 kills apiece.
Ben Feld (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) and
Sam Jolin (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) recorded double-digit assists with 20 and 18, respectively.
Dresen had three kills and an ace as UWSP jumped in front, 4-1.
Nate Arndorfer (Lino Lakes, Minn./Totino Grace) had a pair of blocks as the lead grew to 10-2. Andersen had a pair of kills and Dresen had back-to-back aces late in the first set win.
Yang and Arndorfer combined for five kills as the Pointers went up, 8-4, to start the second. Arndorfer had consecutive blocks and Andersen posted a pair of kills for a 20-13 advantage. Senior
Kyle Smith (Waukesha, Wis./West) had a kill late as UWSP went ahead, 2-0.
Dresen and Yang had three kills apiece as the Pointers started the third with a 13-6 lead.
Rikhil Patidar (Waukesha, Wis./South) had a pair of aces and added two kills late as UWSP finished the sweep.
The Pointers travel to Michigan to face Calvin on Friday (Feb. 27) at 5:00 p.m. ET at the Olivet Quad.
