Raimer Posts Career High as Pointers Take Double-Digit Win over UWL

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 18 UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (18-5, 8-4) maintained a share of first place with a 97-75 win over No. 19 UW-La Crosse (17-6, 7-5) on Saturday.
 
Freshman Max Raimer (Sun Prairie, Wis./East) had a career-high 20 points going 4-for-6 from three-point range. Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) led the Pointers in scoring with 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the floor. Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) and Grant Manz (Kiel, Wis./Kiel) were also in double figures with 19 and 10 points, respectively. Miron had a team-high seven rebounds.
 
Miron drained two three-pointers and had 10 points early as UWSP jumped ahead 14-2. Baumgartner nailed a three as UWSP regained the lead at 22-20 midway through the first half.
 
Raimer sunk his first three and Miron had four points for a 33-29 advantage. Raimer buried back-to-back threes and Drew Daoust (Brussels, Wis./Southern Door) hit from behind the arc as the lead hit double digits at 42-31. Carter Combs (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) had five points late as UWSP was up, 49-35, at the half.
 
Manz, Miron and Baumgartner each made a field goal as UWSP opened the second half with a 7-0 run. Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) had four points and Miron and Raimer each nailed a three. Baumgartner buried a pair of threes down the stretch as the lead was in double digits the entire second half.
 
UWSP hosts UW-Whitewater on Wednesday (Feb. 18) in the regular season home finale. Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m.
