STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's volleyball team (3-3) suffered a reverse sweep (26-24, 25-22, 24-26, 19-25, 12-15) at the hands of visiting MSOE (2-2) on Wednesday night.
Sam Jolin (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) recorded his second-straight double-double with a team-high 25 assists and 10 digs.
Ethan Jetzer (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan) led all players with a career-best 20 kills.
Liam Robertson (Waukesha, Wis./North) posted a game-high 18 digs.
Hudson Dresen (Franksville, Wis./Union Grove) had 15 kills and
Ben Feld (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) added 21 assists.
Alec Peterson (Madison, Wis./Memorial) had a pair of kills and an ace early in the first. Jetzer recorded a trio of kills as UWSP took a 12-10 lead. Jetzer added two more kills as the Pointers ended with a 6-1 run to take the set.
Nate Arndorfer (Lino Lakes, Minn./Totino Grace) had a block and two kills as UWSP jumped in front, 13-10, in the second.
Dylan Niznik (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) had two late kills with Ardorfer and Dresen posting consecutive kills to put the Pointers up, 2-0.
Dresen registered three early kills as UWSP took a 7-5 lead. After a Dresen ace, MSOE posted a 6-0 run to tie the set at 17-17. Jetzer had a pair of kills, but the Raiders extended the match with a 26-24 win.
Arndorfer added two more kills early in the fourth. Dresen had two kills, but UWSP couldn't keep pace as MSOE forced a fifth set.
Jetzer had six kills in the fifth set and Dresen added three, but MSOE prevailed for the five-set win.
The Pointers travel to Illinois for the North Central Tri on Saturday (Jan. 31). UWSP faces host NCC at 12:00 p.m. before taking on Cal Lutheran at 2:30 p.m.
