STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (6-8-2) conceded two goals in the third period to end in a 3-3 tie with visiting Hamline (3-10-2) on Friday night.
The visiting Pipers drew first blood with a goal at 10:54 of the first period.
Quinton Hill (Coquitlam, B.C.) tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal at 16:08 of the first period.
Alec Hamady (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and
Aiden Moser (Bismark, N.D.) had assists on the goal.
Ryan Hintz (Rockford, Ill.) gave the Pointers a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal at 12:49 of the second period.
Gabe Randel (Hortonville, Wis.) and
Owen Dean (Calgary, Alberta) got assists on the play.
Hamady pushed the UWSP lead to 3-1 at the 4:31 mark of the third period. Moser picked up his second assist of the night on the play.
Hamline got a power-play goal at 7:20 of the third and tied the game at 8:54. In overtime, neither team could break the tie.
In the shootout, Hamady was the only skater on either side to convert.

Ryan Maguire (Ridgefield, Conn.) made 29 saves. Hamline goaltender Cade Chapman had 28 saves.
The Pointers host Saint John's on Saturday (Jan. 17) in the final non-conference game of the season. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
