STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-10-0, 2-3-0) held a lead after one period, but fell to No. 9 UW-Eau Claire (13-5-0, 5-0-0) by a 4-1 final on Friday.
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) gave the Pointers a 1-0 lead at 16:11 of the first period on a wrist shot from the blue line. Her goal was unassisted and her second of the season.
The 1-0 lead held up until the 3:23 mark of the second period. UWEC scored four times in the second period, including a shorthanded tally, to put UWSP in a 4-1 hole heading to the third period.

Claire Swanson (Buffalo, Minn./Rogers) made 27 of her career-high 60 saves in the third period to keep UWSP within striking distance. Her 60 saves on Friday were the second most in program history.
UWEC goaltender Kambelle Freije had 16 saves to earn the win.
The Pointers travel to Eau Claire on Saturday (Jan. 17) for a 2:00 p.m. game to close out the season series with UWEC.
