EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-11-0, 2-4-0) fell by a 5-1 final in the series finale with No. 9 UW-Eau Claire (14-5-0, 6-0-0) on Saturday.
The Blugolds broke the scoreless tie at 13:11 of the first period.
Just over a minute later, freshman
Abby Skelly (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) netted her third goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Her power-play goal was assisted on by
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) and
Riley Novak (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan).
Late in the first period, UWEC regained the lead with the eventual game-winner at the 18:22 mark.
The Blugolds added two goals in the second and one in the third to complete the scoring.

Claire Swanson (Buffalo, Minn./Rogers) made 47 saves. UWEC goaltender Kambelle Freije made 17 saves.
The Pointers will enjoy a bye week before taking on Beloit in a weekend series at K.B. Willett Arena beginning on Jan. 30. Puck drop that day is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
