VERONA, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (2-0-0) notched its second-straight shutout win to open the season defeating Edgewood (1-1-1) by a 1-0 final.
The sides played to a scoreless draw over the first 45 minutes with both teams earning two corner kicks.
As the second half got underway, the Pointers were awarded a penalty kick in the 51st minute.
Connor Urban (Waukesha, Wis./West) stepped to the spot and buried the eventual game-winner and only goal of the match.

Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) totaled five saves in the shutout win. His second-straight clean sheet to start the 2025 campaign.
The Pointers defense was stout all match as host Edgewood outshot UWSP, 17-2. The Eagles earned all six corner kicks in the second half.
UWSP stays on the road with a trip to Illinois on Saturday (Sept. 6) to face Augustana at 3:30 p.m.
