STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team fell to visiting UW-Whitewater by a 6-1 final in conference play on Tuesday.
Freshman
Chloe Regal (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) was dominant in a No. 1 singles win, 6-0, 6-3.
Regal also paired with fellow freshman
Annie Wierzbicki (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) to get a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Wierzbicki forced a third set at No. 3 singles. After dropping the opening set, 6-2, she rallied for a 6-4 win in set two. With the match still undecided, they played a third set with Wierzbicki falling, 6-3.
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) played a super-breaker at No. 5 singles. She took the opening set, 6-4. She nearly closed it out in straight sets coming up short, 7-5. Then in the super-breaker, Steier fell by a 10-4 score.
Freshman
Ellie Aitken (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) nearly forced a super-breaker. She dropped the first set, 6-3. Aitken nearly took the second set, falling, 7-5.
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) won five games at No. 6 singles.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) won three games at No. 2 singles.
The Pointers return to action on Oct. 3 with a home match against UW-Eau Claire at 3:00 p.m.
