STEVENS POINT, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse's (2-10, 1-3) late scoring run not enough for UW-La Crosse (7-3, 3-1), falling 15-8.
UWL scored two early goals before
Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) found
Paige Allen (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) for a goal at 5:14 in the first quarter. UWL scored two more to end the first quarter, 4-1.
UWL opened the second quarter with three goals. At 4:21,
Barrie Bahr (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) scored off a free-position shot, making it 7-2. UWL rounded out the first half with a free-position goal, being up 8-2 going into halftime.
Van Dyke netted an unassisted goal at 14:08 in the third quarter to make it an 8-3 game. UWL scored two before
Aliseah Senart (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) found
Aubrey Keeping (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) at 9:40, her first goal of the game. Keeping netted an unassisted goal with 24 seconds remaining in the third quarter to make it 13-5.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) opened up the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal at 12:13. Van Dyke scored off an assist from Leising at 8:26 to cut UWL's lead in half, 14-7. With under seven minutes remaining in regulation, Allen found Keeping for a goal, 14-8.
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, completing 18 saves in 60 minutes of play.
The UWSP women's lacrosse team remains at home to face Hamline University on Friday (Apr. 11). Opening draw is set for 6:00 p.m.
