STEVENS POINT, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (2-11, 1-4) fell in overtime to the Hamline Pipers (4-6, 2-2), 11-10.
The Pointers opened the game with a goal at 11:18 from
Barrie Bahr (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) off an assist from
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove). Hamline notched a free-position goal at 6:12 to tie the game.
Aubrey Keeping (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) would not let the game stay tied, as she found the back of the net on an unassisted goal at 4:35 to regain the lead going into the second quarter.
Hamline scored four goals to open the second quarter to take the lead, 5-2. The Pointers scored two back-to-back goals from Leising off an assist from
Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) and an unassisted goal from Keeping at 4:45 and 4:10, respectively, to be within one goal. Keeping found Bahr for a goal at 1:35 to tie the game going into halftime.
The Pointers took back the lead at 13:05 in the third quarter, when Bahr scored off an assist from Keeping. Keeping added onto the Pointers' lead off an assist from Van Dyke at 10:20 to make it a 7-5 game. Hamline took two goals back to tie the game, just before Bahr scored a shorthanded goal at 1:51 to take the lead again going into the fourth quarter.
Hamline scored two player-up goals to start the final quarter. Leising netted a free-position goal at 9:13 to tie the game for the fourth time. Bahr and Keeping kept up the scoring and assist duo at 7:22 to give the Pointers the lead again. In the final second of regulation, Hamline scored to take the game into overtime.
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, completing six saves in 66 minutes of play.
UWSP is back at home on Wednesday (Apr. 16) to take on UW-Eau Claire. Opening draw is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
