STEVENS POINT, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (2-12, 1-5) was unable to handle UW-Eau Claire's (8-5, 5-2) fast start, falling at home, 23-3.
UWEC took control of the game early, scoring two goals before the Pointers' first.
Aubrey Keeping (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) scored the first goal for the Pointers at 12:33, unassisted to be within a goal.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) netted the Pointers' second goal of the game at 10:42 in the first quarter, off an assist from
Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest). UWEC took control in the remaining first half to be up 17-2 going into halftime.
Paige Allen (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) scored on a player-up opportunity at 11:17 in the third quarter off an assist from Keeping, the final Pointer goal of the evening.
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, completing 12 saves in 60 minutes of play.
The Pointers wrapped up their three-game home stand and are back on the road on Wednesday (Apr. 23) to take on UW-River Falls. Opening Draw is set for 6:00 p.m.
