NEENAH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team split matches on Sunday. The Pointers swept Concordia (Wis.) by a 7-0 score to begin the day, but came up short, 5-2, against Olivet Nazarene.
Morgan Milan (Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall) went 2-0 on the day in singles action. Milan needed a super-breaker at No. 6 singles against CUW. She took the first set, 6-4, and then prevailed in the super-breaker, 10-6. Milan took her match against ONU, 6-1, 6-1.
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) also earned two wins in singles play at No. 5. Her win over CUW was a 6-4, 6-1 final and versus ONU, she won 6-3, 6-2.
Brosteau also helped the Pointers win the doubles team point against CUW. She paired with
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) and Ashley Abigail sealed the team point with a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Steier and Kunze got wins in singles against CUW as well. Steier took her No. 2 singles match, 6-3, 6-2. Kunze won at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) won her No.1 singles match versus the Falcons, 7-6 (0), 6-2.
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
The Pointers head to Iowa on Sunday (Apr. 6) to face Wartburg and Cornell at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
