DAVENPORT, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team (3-5) took a 15-3 loss in seven innings to Ramapo (8-4) in Florida on Thursday.
Jackson Adams (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) had a triple and a home run, two of UWSP's six hits. He drove in two and scored twice.
After the Pointers went quietly in the top of the first, Ramapo jumped ahead with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the frame.
UWSP went in order again in the second and Ramapo added to its lead with five more runs on six hits for a 8-0 lead after two.
Colton Martell (Sussex, Wis./Sussex Hamilton) got a one-out hit for the Pointers' first base runner in the third. Adams tripled pushing Martell home to get the Pointers on the board. Two batters later,
Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) hit a single to score Adams. After a hit by pitch and a walk, the Pointers stranded the bases loaded without further damage.
Ramapo continued to pile on the runs with five more in the bottom of the third on just two hits. Three walks and three hit batters contributed to the big inning.
The Roadrunners tacked on two more in the fourth to run their total to 15.
Adams hit a solo home run to lead off the seventh for the last tally by either team in the game.
Steven Wintheiser (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) was tagged for eight runs in 2.0 innings. He struck out one.
Kale Weisenberger (Stratford, Wis./Stratford) had three strikeouts in 2.0 innings of work.
Braylen Nystrom (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) fanned two in a frame of action.
The Pointers take on Coe at 9:30 a.m. ET on Friday (March 21).
