PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (15-6, 5-5) fell at No. 4 UW-Platteville (19-2, 9-1) by a 78-69 final on Saturday.
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) led all scorers with 21 points.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) and
Darrius Bolden (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) were also in double figures with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Abdul-Wahid gave UWSP a 2-0 lead. Krohn and
Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) each hit a three and UWSP built a 10-point lead at 19-9. Abdul-Wahid scored seven-consecutive UWSP points and completed an and-one late as the Pointers led, 35-34, at the half.
The lead waffled from one team to the other until a Bolden layup with 10:38 to go gave UWSP its final lead of the game. Abdul-Wahid buried a three to halt an 8-0 run by UWP, but the Pointers could get no close than three the remainder of the game.
The Pointers travel to UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday (Feb. 12) for a 7:00 p.m. tip against the Titans.
