NEENAH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team defeated Loras by a 4-3 final before falling to Carroll, 5-2.
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) and
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) won at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, but the Pointers dropped the team doubles point to Loras.
Steier and Brosteau both won in singles against Loras. Steier won her No. 2 singles by a 7-6 (3), 6-2 score. Brosteau took her No. 5 singles match, 6-4, 7-5.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) won at No. 1 singles versus the Duhawks, 6-1, 6-4.
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Jantz and Scharf won their singles matches versus Carroll. Jantz won at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4. Scharf won at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
Steier played a marathon super-breaker at No. 2 singles against the Pioneers. Her No. 2 singles match was split by 6-3 scores in set one and two. In the super-breaker, Steier was on the short end of a 14-12 final.
UWSP returns to Neenah on Sunday (Mar. 2) to take on Edgewood at 9:00 a.m. and Lawrence at 5:00 p.m.
