ASHLAND, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (10-11-1, 4-4-1) finished the season series with a second-straight 10-1 win at Northland (0-17-0, 0-8-0) on Saturday.
Junior
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) scored her first career hat trick and closed out the weekend with 10 points over the two games after a program record six points on Friday.
Alyssa Yokom (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) tied Andrle's school record with six points on Saturday. She scored two goals and added four assists.
Riley Novak (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) got the scoring started at 9:18 of the first period. Her power-play goal was assisted by
Molly Millar (Anchorage, Alaska/East) and
Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake).
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) scored at 11:17 of the first with Yokom and Andrle providing assists. Stanius made it 3-0 at 18:21 of the first off assists from Yokom and Millar.
Andrle scored her first of the game at 9:00 of the second with Leising getting an assist. Yokom pushed the lead to 5-0 at the 10:31 mark of the second with assists from
Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) and
Avery Engbrecht (Winona, Minn./Winona).
Novak tallied her second power-play goal of the game at 11:53 in the second, her first career multi-goal game. Ahern and Stanius had assists.
Andrle scored on the power play at 13:13 of the second and again at 9:43 of the third to complete the hat trick.
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) and Yokom had assists on the first PPG, Yokom and Leising had helpers on the latter.
Engbrecht netted a goal at 13:31 of the third with Novak and Pouchnik getting assists. Yokom completed the scoring at 18:33 with an unassisted goal.
The Pointers host UW-Superior on Friday (Feb. 7) to begin a three-game homestand to close out the regular season. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
