STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 10 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (15-5-1, 7-3-1) closed out the season series against UW-River Falls (11-9-1, 5-5-1) with a 6-2 win on Saturday night.
Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa.) put the Pointers in front at 8:48 of the first period.
Owen Dean (Calgary, Alberta) assisted on the goal.
Alec Hamady (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) gave UWSP a 2-0 lead at 16:13 of the first with
Tyler German (Canton, Mich.) and
Peyton Hart (Delafield, Wis.) recording assists.
Hart pushed the lead to 3-0 at the 2:46 mark of the second with Hamady getting an assist on the play.
Less than a minute later,
Matthew Falls (Toronto,Ont.) made it 4-0.
Joseph Manning (Stillwater, Minn.) assisted on the goal at 3:24 of the second.
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) scored at 12:08 of the second to make it 5-0.
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) and
Chris Engelbert (Whitby, Ont.) had assists, the eighth-straight game with a point for Chmelevski.
UWRF scored twice to send the game to the third with UWSP leading, 5-2.
Dean scored UWSP's sixth goal of the night at 15:14 of the third period. Engelbert and
Aiden Moser (Bismark, N.D.) had assists.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made 22 saves for the win. UWRF goaltenders Brennan Boynton and Nolan LaCosse each had 11 saves.
The Pointers are home again on Friday (Feb. 7) for the first game of a weekend series against Northland. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
