JANESVILLE, Wis. – Three UW-Stevens Point women's hockey players netted their first career goals as the Pointers (7-3-0) got a 6-1 non-conference win at Beloit (1-9-0) on Friday afternoon.
Riley Novak (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) tallied a power-play goal at 10:44 of the first period to put the Pointers ahead.
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) and
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) had assists on the goal.
Kaiya Johnson (Hanover, Minn./Buffalo) scored her first collegiate goal at 12:28 of the first period, the eventual game-winner. Novak picked up her second point of the period with an assist.
The host Buccaneers got on the board with a power-play tally at 11:30 of the second period to pull within 2-1.
Jenna Britz (Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) netted her first career goal at 18:05 of the second, a power-play goal.
Gianna Neist (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) and Pohlkamp had assists on the play.
Pohlkamp notched her third point of the game with an unassisted goal at 3:49 of the third period.
Britz scored her second goal of the game at 4:27 of the third period. Novak added her third point of the game with an assist and
Tara Rigan (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community) also picked up an assist.
Abby Skelly (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) got her first career goal at 13:24 of the third period to complete the scoring.
Alexis Ralston (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) recorded her first collegiate point with an assist.
UWSP goaltender
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) had 16 saves in the win. Beloit goaltender Janelle Quast made 46 saves.
UWSP and Beloit face off again on Saturday (Dec. 6) at 2:00 p.m. in a conference matchup.
