JANESVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-3-0, 2-2-0) got a 5-3 win over Beloit (1-10-1, 0-5-0) in conference play on Saturday.
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) got the scoring started with a power-play goal at 13:05 of the first period.
Gianna Neist (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) had the lone assist on the play.
Dani Weiland (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) pushed the lead to 2-0 at 16:21 of the first period.
Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) provided an assist on the goal.
The Buccaneers got on the board with a power-play tally with 52.3 seconds left in the opening stanza.
Beloit tied the game at 2-2 with another power-play goal at the 3:41 mark of the second period.
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) put the Pointers back in front with a power-play goal at 6:01 of the second. Neist added her second assist of the game.
Tara Rigan (Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community) netted an unassisted goal, her first of the year and the eventual game-winner, at 10:05 of the second.
Beloit got a goal at 14:53 of the second to pull within 4-3.
Pohlkamp put the lead back at two goals at 17:27 of the second with her second goal of the game. Ahern notched her second assist of the game on the goal.

Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) earned the win with 27 saves. Beloit goaltender Maddy Bliss had 29 saves.
The Pointers return home for a weekend series against Concordia (Wis.) beginning on Saturday (Dec. 13) at 5:00 p.m.
