STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (4-5-1, 2-2-1) rallied from a three-goal deficit, but ultimately fell to visiting UW-Eau Claire (6-4-1, 4-1-0) by a 6-3 final on Friday.
The Blugolds scored the only goal of the first period taking a lead at 6:36. At 8:14 of the second period, UWEC pushed the scored to 2-0. It was 3-0 in favor of the Blugolds at 10:50 of the second period.
Just 10 seconds later,
Cody Pisarczyk (Airdria, Alberta) created a turnover and got the Pointers on the board with an unassisted tally.
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) pulled the Pointers within a goal just 21 seconds into the third period.
Alex Johnson (Calgary, Alberta) and
Ryan Hintz (Rockford, Ill.) set up the goal.
Chmelevski tied the game at 3-3 at the 3:04 mark of the third period. Johnson added his second assist of the period and
Michael Eftimovski (Toronto, Ont.) also had an assist.
The Blugolds broke the tie at 9:22 of the third period. UWEC added another goal at 16:20 and an empty-net goal at 18:10 to complete the scoring.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) had 24 saves. UWEC goaltender Max Gutjahr had 29 saves.
The Pointers and Blugolds meet again on Saturday (Dec. 13) at 7:00 p.m. in Eau Claire to close out play in 2025.
