EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (4-6-1, 2-3-1) conceded three goals in the third period in a 3-2 loss at UW-Eau Claire (7-4-1, 5-1-0) to end play in 2025.
Bennett Koupal (Sioux Falls, S.D.) netted his first collegiate goal at 2:55 of the first period to put UWSP in front.
Gabe Randel (Hortonville, Wis.) and
Turner Richards (Minocqua, Wis.) had assists on the goal.
The Pointers held the 1-0 lead until the third period. UWEC tied the game 16 seconds into the third period. The Blugolds took the lead at 2:44 and made it 3-1 at the 4:03 mark.
Sean Bunting (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored a power-play goal at 16:53 of the third period.
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) and
Alex Johnson (Calgary, Alberta) had assists.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made 31 saves. UWEC goaltender Max Gutjahr had 23 saves.
The Pointers and Blugolds close out the season series on Jan. 2 at 7:00 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena.
