STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (16-14, 3-4) fell in the conference finale, 3-1, to No. 11 UW-Whitewater (24-6, 3-4).
Carly Thomka (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and
Katie Larson (Hammond, Wis./St. Croix Central) were both in double-figure kills with 16 and 10, respectively.
Hannah Strege (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) led all players with 39 assists and had a double-double with 11 digs.
Abby Nevins (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) led the Pointers with 14 digs.
Thomka had two kills and an ace early for a 3-3 tie. Senior
Olivia Paukner (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) and fellow senior Larson each had a kill in a 9-2 burst that put UWSP up, 12-5.
Samantha Kempinger (Oshkosh, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) had two kills and an ace and Thomka added two more kills as the Pointers took the first set, 25-14.
Lauren Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) had a pair of kills early as the Pointers went up, 9-5 in the second. Thomka had two kills late, but UWW rallied to tie the match with a 25-23 set two win.
Shaw, Larson and Thomka combined for 10 kills as UWSP stayed close at 13-12 in the third. Larson had a kill and two blocks and two kills by Thomka couldn't stop the Warhawks from taking the set, 25-20.

Tessa Erlandson (Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon Wanamingo) served an ace as the Pointers played from behind in the fourth as UWW finished the win with a 25-20 win.
The Pointers take on Concordia (Wis.) on Saturday (Nov. 8) in the regular season finale at 2:00 p.m. UWSP will be the five-seed in next week's WIAC Tournament and travel to UW-Whitewater on Tuesday (Nov. 11) at 7:00 p.m.
