EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (13-4-4) lost a narrow 1-0 final at No. 21 UW-Eau Claire (12-2-4) in the WIAC Tournament title match (presented by Culver's).
 
The host Blugolds got on the board in the 15th minute with what turned out to be the lone goal and match-winner.
 
UWSP held the deficit at one for the remainder of the half and Jaxon Buckley (Kingsford, Mich./Kingsford) had the only shot attempt by the Pointers in the first 45 minutes.
 
Buckley again had a shot in the 52nd minute, but neither were on frame. Marcelo Chavez (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) took a shot in the 84th minute and he finally tested the UWEC keeper with the lone shot on goal by the Pointers in the 90th minute.
 
UWSP goalkeeper Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) had six saves to keep the Pointers within a goal all match.
