MADISON, Wis. – Freshman
Jaxon Buckley (Kingsford, Mich./Kingsford) was named co-Newcomer of the Year and was one of five UW-Stevens Point men's soccer players to earn accolades from the WIAC on Thursday. Buckley was joined on the All-WIAC first team by
Charlie McGinnis (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) and
Connor Urban (Waukesha, Wis./West).
Vincent Bianco (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton) and
Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) were named to the honorable mention team. Senior
Cameron Jochimsen (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship team.

Buckley grabs a pair of honors in his first season at UWSP. He has played in all 19 matches and started 11 times. He leads the Pointers with 10 goals, the first player in program history to score double-figure goals in a season. Buckley has added four assists and is second on the team with 24 points. He was named WIAC Offensive Player of the Week in September after he recorded a brace at Ripon and at Beloit, including the game-winner in both matches.
McGinnis picks up his first league honor after an all-sportsmanship team nod a season ago. He has started and played all 19 matches and lead the team with 1,664 minutes of action. He recorded his first career assist in a win at Concordia University Chiago in September. McGinnis has led the UWPS defense to seven shutouts this season.
Urban repeats as an All-WIAC first team selection. He has also started all 19 matches this season and leads the conference with 11 assists. Urban is second in the league with 29 points and is second on the team behind Buckley with nine goals. He scored back-to-back game-winners at Edgewood and at Augustana in September. In October, Urban earned WIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring a goal and adding two assists in a win at UW-River Falls.
Bianco snags a league honor after a break-out freshman season. He has played in all 19 matches and started 15 times. Bianco is tied for fourth on the team with four goals. His first two career goals were game-winners against Lakeland and at St. Norbert. In October, he scored three goals on four shots on goal in wins over UW-Stout and at UW-River Falls.
Havlik garners his first conference award. He started and played in 17 matches with an 11-3-3 record on the year. He held a 1.13 goals against average with four shutouts and two other combined with teammates. Havlik won each of his first five matches this season with three shutouts. He recorded a shutout in league play against UW-Platteville and combined on another versus UW-Stout.
Jochimsen earns all-sportsmanship team honors after starting and playing in 17 matches his senior season. He has shown exemplary leadership in his two seasons of the UWSP men's soccer program's start. This season, he has five assists, fourth-most on the team. Jochimsen had two assists in UWSP WIAC first round win over UW-Stout on Tuesday.
The men's soccer team travels to UW-Whitewater today for the WIAC Tournament semifinals. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m.
