SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (3-4-0, 1-1-0) were an unable to overcome a three-goal deficit in a 4-2 loss at No. 14 UW-Superior (4-2-1, 1-1-0) in league play on Saturday.
The host Yellowjackets scored three goals in the first period as UWSP was outshot in the first stanza, 14-8.
Owen Dean (Calgary, Alberta) got the Pointers on the board at 12:54 of the second period with his second goal of the season.
Ryan Hintz (Rockford, Ill.) had an assist, his second of the weekend.
Superior pushed the deficit back to three goals with less than a minute remaining in the second period.
Hunter O'Brien (Cambridge, Ont.) scored the only goal of the third period, a power-play goal.
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) had the only assist on the goal.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) had 33 saves. UWS goaltender Jan Skorpik made 30 saves for the win.
The Pointers' next game is Dec. 5 when UWSP hosts UW-Stout at 7:00 p.m.
