STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (3-3-0, 1-0-0) matched its season-high in goals with a 4-1 win over UW-River Falls (4-3-0, 0-1-0) in the conference opener for both teams.
Cody Pisarczyk (Airdria, Alberta) scored his third of the season at 11:58 of the first period.
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) and
Michael Eftimovski (Toronto, Ont.) had assists and UWSP led, 1-0, after one.
The Falcons tied the game in the second period with a power-play tally at 6:41.
Gabe Randel (Hortonville, Wis.) scored his first goal in a Pointers' uniform at 17:26 of the second period, the eventual game-winner.
Ryan Hintz (Rockford, Ill.) and
Turner Richards (Minocqua, Wis.) had assists, the first career point for Richards in his season debut.
Late in the third period,
Hunter O'Brien (Cambridge, Ont.) netted an unassisted power-play goal at the 16:36 mark to cushion the lead to 3-1.
Jospeh Manning scored his first career goal with an empty-netter at 18:35 in the third period.
Quinton Hill (Coquitlam, B.C.) got an assist on the play.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made 18 saves to earn the win. UWRF goaltender Brennan Boynton had 32 saves.
The Pointers travel to UW-Superior on Saturday (Nov. 22) for the first road conference game of the year. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
