NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (1-0-0) opened the 2025-26 season with a 2-1 victory at St. Olaf (0-1-0) on Friday.
 
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) got the Pointers on the board at 13:02 of the first period. Freshman 
Addison Novack (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) got her first collegiate point with an assist on the play.
 
The Oles tied the game late in the first with a goal at 18:36 to send the game to the first intermission tied at 1-1.
 
In the second period, freshman 
Dani Weiland (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) put UWSP in front at the 12:11 mark for her first collegiate goal, the event game-winner. 
Riley Novak (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) had an assist on the play.
 
UWSP goaltender 
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) handled things from there. She totaled 43 saves on the night to earn the win. She had 19 stops in the second period and 17 more saves in the third period.
 
The Pointers and Oles conclude the weekend series on Saturday (Nov. 1). Puck drop is set for 2:00 p.m.
