Borchardt’s First Career Hat Trick Lifts Pointers to Win at UWEC

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Sophomore Christa Borchardt (New Berlin, Wis./West) netted her first career hat trick as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (6-4-7, 1-1-3) got a 3-0 win at UW-Eau Claire (2-10-4, 1-3-1) on Wednesday. It was the first hat trick by a Pointer since Maddy Hardyman had on on Sept. 1, 2018.

Borchardt gave the Pointers the lead in the eighth minute with her first of the night and the eventual game-winner. Cass Klitzke (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area) provided as assist on the goal.

In the 32nd minute, the Pointers were awarded a penalty kick. Borchardt stepped to the spot and buried her second of the night as UWSP took a 2-0 lead to the break.

Borchardt completed her hat trick in the 66th minute. Kayce Wadas (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) had an assist as Borchardt's third of the night put UWSP in an insurmountable 3-0 lead.

Freshman goalkeeper Ainsley Katte (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) made a season-high nine saves to record her second-straight shutout and her fourth clean sheet in six matches.
