WHITEWATER, Wis. – The No. 16 UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (11-2, 1-1) got 20 points each from
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) in an 86-67 road win at UW-Whitewater (7-6, 1-1).
Miron and Butler each made seven field goals and the duo combined for six three-pointers.
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) was also in double figures with 16 points.
Miron hit a couple early three and the Pointers were in front, 8-4.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) added four points and a pair of free throws gave UWSP a 20-16 lead midway through the first.
Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) scored five-straight points and Miron buried another three to push the advantage to 10. Butler nailed a three as the Pointers ended the first half with a 5-0 run to lead 44-31 at the break.
Darrius Bolden (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) drilled a three as UWSP maintained a double-digit lead early in the second half. Miron hit another three and scored five straight. Butler Buried a three to snap a four-minute drought as UWSP led 74-61 with 5:47 to go. A Butler layup with 2:30 remaining pushed the lead to 21.
The Pointers return home to face UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Jan. 11). Tip-off in Quandt is set for 5:00 p.m.
