STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 10 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (14-5-1, 6-3-1) came up short, 3-2, in a home matchup with UW-River Falls (11-8-1, 5-4-1) in the weekend opener.

Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) had a goal and an assist to reach the 100-point milestone in his UWSP career.
Neither team scored in the first period as UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) and UWRF goaltender Brennan Boynton combined for 22 saves.
The Falcons broke the deadlock at 7:28 of the second period on a one-timer off a popped up deflection.
Late in the second, Nico Chmelevlski extended his point streak to seven-straight with a game-tying goal. Anderson and
Joseph Manning (Stillwater, Minn.) had assists on the power-play goal at 16:57.
Midway through the third period, UWRF scored twice within 16 seconds to take a 3-1 lead.
Anderson got one goal back at 16:42 of the third period. Manning and
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont.) had assists on the play.
The Pointers were unable to find an equalizer even with a late power play and an extra attacker.
Proctor totalled 29 saves for UWSP. Boynton had 31 saves for UWRF.
The Pointers and Falcons close out the season series on Saturday (Feb. 1) with a 7:00 p.m. start at K.B. Willett Arena.
