STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (7-6-1) opened the 2025 portion of the schedule with a 5-1 loss to Hamline (8-2-0).
The visiting Pipers opened the scoring in the first period at the 9:45 mark on a fluky ricochet off the glass. HU doubled the lead at 16:15 of the first.
Hamline scored the only goal of the second period as UWSP faced a 3-0 hole heading to the fourth.
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) got the Pointers on the board as she deflected the puck into the net at 4:30 of the third period.
Soile Doyle (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) and
Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) has assists on the play as Pohlkamp tied for the team lead with her seventh of the season.
The Pipers added two goals within 23 seconds nearly the midpoint of the third to conclude the scoring.
UWSP goaltender
Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) made 31 saves. HU goaltender Kendra Nordick had 12 saves in the win, eight of which were in the third period.
The Pointers head to Fond du Lac on Friday (Jan. 3) to take on St. Scholastica in the opening game of the Marian Tournament. Puck drop is slated for 4:00 p.m.
