STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 14 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (9-4-1) won its third-straight to begin 2025 with a 4-1 victory over Augsburg (5-10-0) on Saturday night.
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont.) put the Pointers ahead at the 10:07 mark of the first period.
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) and
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) had assists on the goal.
Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa.) gave UWSP a 2-0 lead at 17:05 of the second period. His eventual game-winner was assisted on by Poulias and Anderson.
Just over a minute later,
Tyler German (Canton, Mich.) pushed the lead to 3-0.
Gino Colangelo (Newmarket, Ont.) and
Peyton Hart (Delafield, Wis.) provided assists on the play.
Michael Eftimovski (Toronto, Ont.) upped the lead to 4-0 just 55 seconds into the third period.
Blake Norris (Warroad, Minn.) and Chmelevski had assists.
UWSP goaltender
Ryan Maguire (Ridgefield, Conn.) was pitching a shutout until the 18:13 mark of the third period. The Auggies got their only shot past him on a delayed penalty. Maguire made 23 saves to pick up the win.
Augsburg goaltender Carsen Stokes had 32 saves.
The Pointers head out to begin the longest road swing of the season on Tuesday (Jan. 14) with a 7:00 p.m. game at UW-Eau Claire.
