STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (0-2-2) erased a one-goal deficit twice in a 2-2 home draw with Dubuque (2-0-1) on Saturday.
The Pointers fell behind in the 10th minute of play as the visiting Spartans found the back of the net with their first shot.
Less than a minute later, UWSP got level as senior
Madison Culli (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) netted her first of the season.
Jessica Camarato (DeForest, Wis./DeForest Area) posted her first point of the year with an assist on the play.
The Spartans regained the lead in the 11th minute, the third goal by the two sides in less than a minute.
Neither side scored the remainder of the first half as UWSP trailed 2-1 at the break.
Early in the second half, senior
Gabby Dunn (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch) tallied her first of the year to pull the Pointers even again. Her 48th minute equalizer was assisted on by
Kaitlan Jones (Plymouth, Minn./Heritage Christian Acad.), the first career point for Jones.
Freshman goalkeeper
Erika Panella (Waukesha, Wis./Kettle Moraine) made six saves. UD goalkeeper Samantha Jurgens had seven saves.
The Pointers are right back in action on Sunday (Sept. 8) with a 12:00 p.m. match at home against Carroll.
