STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team triumphed in the home opener, 9-0, over visiting UW-Stout as both teams opened league play on Friday.
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) did not drop a game on the day winning her No. 5 singles match by a 6-0, 6-0 final. She also teamed with
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) and
Quinlyn Mack (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) also earned 6-0, 6-0 singles wins at No. 6 and No. 2, respectively. The pair also teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won at No. 1 doubles by an 8-3 final. Jantz defeated her opponent at No. 1 singles by a 6-1, 6-0 score. Scharf won at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
The Pointers continue the home stand on Thursday (Sept. 12) with a 3:00 p.m. match against Ripon.
